Fanciful Pumpkins…

October 5, 2009

I spent part of my Sunday looking for white pumpkins which was pretty easy, I found them at my local Whole Foods. I was even lucky enough to benefit from a store error. The pumkins were priced at 79 cents each, instead of 79 cents per pound.  While the customer service manager wasn’t so pleased, I ended up getting white pumpkins and several gourds for less than 20 dollars. Not bad considering I stayed in the city to do my shopping.  Now I’m trying to decide if I should do a motif carving.  The only problem is once you cut them, eventually they do begin to smell. I like these ideas both found at Country Living. I think I”m leaning toward the first, I’d like to try my hand at some fancy carving.

Tissue Paper Pom Poms

September 30, 2009

As you may recall I’m hosting  – and am oh so excited about – a Little Dresses for Africa party.  I want the room to be as fun and inspiring as possible for the ladies who are participating. The first element of my decor will be these festive tissue pom poms. I’ve been in love with these things forever but haven’t had an occasion to use them.  Next up is deciding what’s on the menu. I’m starting to get excited…

Design I love…

August 27, 2009

agnesbeforeagnes_afterLately I’ve been so inspired by the images and ideas on many of the design blogs I read daily. So I’ve been trolling through thrift and consignment shops to find some unique pieces to add to my decor. This DIY project I saw this morning is great. Wow, an old piece totally was given a pretty impressive and much more modern chic look. I would have never thought to use chicken wire.  I’m totally going to try to replicate this one. Now, the hunt for the perfect piece continues…

A little trim…

August 18, 2009

Lately, my creative juices have been flowing. I’ve been in “create” mode – especially when it comes to my workspace. I recently can across vvrouleaux and started thinking about all the wonderful home and entertaining projects I can create.  They have the most unique fabrics, trims and embellishments. So after my home office is completed, for my next project I’ll be sure to use their products. I love the crystal room divider, so whimsical but sophisticated.
