In theory…

September 29, 2009

I walked out of my place this morning and thought summer is seriously long gone and it’s pretty depressing. All summer I’ve been sporting dresses and now I’m in the market for a few cute pairs of pants.  In my search I remembered my old and very talented friend Adrienne designs for Theory and has a few tips for the latest trends. You can check her out here. She’s stylish in pink!

So yesterday I decided to shop for new flats and came across these Vera Wang Lavender Label flats. Well this picture doesn’t do them justice. The crystals are gorgeous and they’re extremely comfortable. I tried them on in black and I’m in love with them. Nothing like jewels on your feet! At a price tag of $295 I’ll be waiting for a sale though. I did end up with a new pair of Tory Burch moccasins though and I can’t wait to wear them with jeans.

Update: Rachel by Rachel Roy

September 15, 2009

I posted this entry back in 2008, I have been following the career of Rachel Roy since she launched her line and as I mentioned in my earlier post, her clothes are beautiful but they are on the higher end. As many of you may have heard she now has a new more affordable line Rachel available at Macy’s. While the pieces are pretty youth oriented it’s received great reviews so far. I think the pieces would be great for mix and match with higher end pieces. I’ve checked and the line isn’t at a Macy’s near me yet but I’ve got my eye out for it. On a personal note, I really like the image she’s crafted for herself. She comes across as a modern gracious, warm and stylish. She’s a mother of two beautiful little girls as well. Nice.

So some people are born knowing how to craft a great personal style and some people have to develop it. In my case, it’s an ongoing process. While I’ve always had pretty sophisticated and classic tastes – perhaps it’s the old soul within – I’m always developing my style into something very personal and unique. Another way of looking at it is my personal theme! One of my favorite designers is Rachel Roy. I love her style and her designs. Rachel also embodies all the tips for beauty; she’s gracious with a great smile, ambitious and creative. While her line is definitely in the higher price range, her style is pretty easy to emulate.

A little Bliss…

September 3, 2009

I’ve been meaning to post about my experience at the new Bliss spa in DC. For so long I was disappointed that the nearest Bliss was in New York, so when I heard Bliss was coming to Washington – a town seriously lacking in good spas – I was super excited. Well, I’m happy to report that Bliss in DC is just as good as the locations in New York and Los Angeles. While it’s definitely smaller and doesn’t have the energy of the New York or Los Angeles spas, it’s stylish, super new and clean. I got a herbie and my face was glowing for days not to mention my esthetician was very friendly. My sweetie got a homme improvement treatment and even he was impressed. So if you’re looking for a good spa in DC be sure to check out Bliss.
