Design I love…

October 1, 2009

So it’s natural that as the weather gets colder we focus more on houseld projects. I found this picture and post over at brooklynlimestone where she created this great guest room for less than $700. I especially like the color of the walls and the bedding.  A peak at the price breakdown has inspired to take a trip to my local Walmart and JC Penny this weekend.  Wish me luck on some great finds!

Oh joy…

I’m sorry I’ve been away, I was traveling for work. I had a chance to visit Madison, Wisconsin. I met some very interesting people, had a chance to sample some great cheeses and ate at a wonderful farm to table restuarant called Harvest (if you’re visiting Madison be sure to check it out). The hierloom tomato salad with goat cheese and fresh pepper was so simple yet amazing.

Needless to say, as is always the case after traveling, I have tons of e-mails to check. While scrolling through my inbox, I came across an e-mail notifying me that ABC Carpet and Home now has online shopping. Oh joy! I realize because of the unique and plentiful inventory, I know the availability of what is online will differ significantly from what is actually in the story but that’s ok, I’m just so pleased I can at least have access to some of the goodies at ABC without having to trek to New York.

I can just imagine using these place cards and accessories from Timeless Papers (based in Philadelphia) on a candlelit table at a small wedding or dinner party. I love how whimsical yet elegant they are. Enchanted for sure!

More event design inspiration

July 30, 2009

I’m blown away by the creativity of so many of the event designers out there. One of my favorites is Jung Lee of Fête.  Her new blog  (or style book as she describes it) features so many cool ideas and inspiration for events.  I love that her take is so modern, simplistic and she provides ideas that you can use for small intimate affairs or large events.  Examples like the digital place cards and this place setting are such a fun and unpredictable twist to entertaining.  I’m sure this will become a daily read for me.
